1. How long will hearts be dry and flutter?
How long will souls be restless and disturbed?

2. While all people are miserable
And wish they were never created

3. They are tired of life itself
And if given the choice, they would divorce it

4. They hoped to find the slightest justification
To remain in this world, but found none

5. War in it does not cease raging
And its flames burn people and ignite

6. It destroys wealth and kills men
Their blood gushing and pouring

7. With gunpowder shells their skulls are scattered
And their bodies sweat from the heat of flames

8. The iron heart melts from its horrors
And the hair of the youth becomes white

9. Its calamities have overwhelmed all the lands
Like a flood that wrecks all it hits and drowns

10. Before it, other severe wars erupted
And the West roared from their intensity, and the East

11. But compared to this one, they were
Unworthy of mention or relevance

12. As violent as those wars were
They were trivial compared to this

13. Their weapons were spears, sharpened blades
Bows flexing and arrows flying

14. With gunpowder the iron cannons were invented
Firing bullets that flew and pierced

15. That was the weaponry that adorned
The battlefields in times past

16. And their era, at that time, matched their range
However far it reached, still short and narrow

17. And despite the enormity of the evils they committed
They were commodities sold in the markets of endurance

18. But this abhorrent one, its evil
Is a torrent flooding all of existence

19. And its stirrer has no mercy for those
Who drowned in its flood without gentleness

20. Its men all march according to the desires
Of their demon lord of turmoil without kindness

21. He ignited its embers and hoped
Through it to gain victory over the Allies

22. A thousand days have passed while he
Sheds and wastes the blood of his people in it

23. He still encourages it and fuels its flames
Recklessly charging like a crazed camel

24. And continues the war that the Allies have tried
To prevent before it raged but failed

25. He insists on expanding its misery while no
Impasse can restrain him from it

26. He never respected any sanctity of law
Nor was deterred by any covenant

27. Rather he violated all morals
And considered treaties permitted to breach

28. He allowed the destruction of churches by sending
Arrows through priceless relics to pierce

29. And permitted the killing of innocents with shells
That planes release as they fly and soar

30. Oh ships of the air! You are the most truthful witness
Publicly speaking of the Germans' atrocities

31. How many raids did they launch on Paris?
How many in London were alarmed by them?

32. How many were killed by them in both cities and beyond?
Killed without justification to attach

33. This is some of what their planes have committed
I will not delve into detailing it all

34. But the atrocities contain what still
Echoes, with hearts burning in anguish

35. He sent his submarines until
The ocean's throat choked and lit up

36. Racing to carry out their lord's commands
Scrupulously executing and excelling

37. With authority from all restraints released
To sink ships and all aboard them without delay

38. The crimes recorded against Germany through them
Are a disgrace that adorns and fits them

39. They have indicted the world while continuously
Sinking vessels and fleets without relent

40. These acts astounded President Wilson
With this growing, dreadful calamity

41. He warned the Germans without
Threats of vengeance thundering and lightning

42. But they did not heed his warning
And persisted in their crimes and stayed

43. They ridiculed his threats and considered
His declaration of war untrue

44. And lured their allies who raced
To imitate them immediately

45. Together they softened towards sins
Facilitating the committing of major ones

46. They set up gallows for innocent lives though deserving
To be chained like criminals and hanged

47. They innovated abominations, unleashing poison
Gases that burn and liquids that strangle

48. They used tools for murder and torture
To achieve their purposes completely

49. As for the machines that do not inflict harm
They name them what cannot be endured or borne

50. And they have varieties of evils that afflict
Gathering cups of torment and overflow

51. Inflicting bereavement, orphanhood, and throwing
Souls into chasms of misery to expire

52. They ridiculed America and belittled the strength
Of its army, not fearing its mighty grip

53. So it was provoked to war, proving
Its threats were true while they disbelieved

54. It called its sons who rushed
Each racing the other to volunteer

55. Ninety million stood in loyalty and not
One shirked or abandoned the cause

56. They cried in one voice "We obey!"
Like clouds thundering under the leadership

57. Of President Wilson they placed
Their money, minds, and blood without grasping

58. They rose to prepare with the resolve of a nation
That persisted and succeeded, the most resolute

59. In peace and war they astonished the world
With their integrity,rising above

60. In peace they observed neutrality
Moving precisely upon its ways

61. They stopped the warmongers though if
They found means of accord, they would reconcile

62. They did not support any of them and were equal
To them all, not distinguishing or dividing

63. Their goodwill covered both sides
Flowing generously like rain

64. Their societies cared for the wounded
Their breezes fragrant in every region

65. And they extended to those harmed by this war
The palms of their generosity in charity

66. Ask about their immense achievements in our East
That speaks of them, as Europe speaks

67. They have an engaging story in France
With its echo in Belgium more compelling

68. They observed neutrality, increasing their profits, and because of it
No hypocrite among them remained

69. But they were not content to prosper
While misery blanketed the innocent

70. And the atrocities of the Germans each
Day had another to add to the first

71. And so they rejected neutrality and denied
Its profits, determining to shun the abhorred

72. In peace they could not restrain the evil
The Germans deliberately unleashed

73. So they pretended to take up arms
To shackle the enemy and restrain

74. For war is the greatest deterrent of war
As its flames burn the provocateur and scorch

75. In peace they cared for both worlds with abundant
Aid flowing to the peaceful from springs

76. And in war they awed the world by
Rising to it, resolute and climbing high

77. With determination that melts iron and zeal
Penetrating, obstacles burst open

78. Only a month passed before their preparations
Tightened the noose on their enemies

79. Hundreds of thousands of them crossed the ocean
Like lightning bolts landing and striking

80. They did not care for the threats of their submarines
But transcended their dangers and flowed

81. They crossed the tumult as though walking on
Dry land, supported by security's shield

82. There they filled the ships which sailed
The armored among them watching and aiming

83. As if a massive extended bridge
Over the sea, or suspended above it

84. This is the nation that the Germans derided
And despite forbearance provoked

85. They will face immediate punishment
Collapsing on them like destiny and enveloping

86. Collapsing, and then their thousands
Will collapse and their ranks unravel

87. Their souls will melt in the heat of torment
And from rage, teeth will grind and burn
