1. Look at the immigration of peace to it, when
The pulsers announced the news to it

2. It deserted the whole earth fleeing from
The face of an aroused war, blazing fires

3. It did not find refuge for it other than Egypt
And to Egypt it hurried coming

4. And in it settled where it did not see in it
A trace for the arrogant enemy forces

5. And Egypt's abode became for peace
A title or appended like an address

6. We are in bliss from it, and the people of the
Land are in sorrows from the horror of war

7. Except that we sympathize with them for what
They suffer from the hellfire of stabbing

8. Is happiness justified for us, and joining of
People headlong in the anguish of sorrows?

9. No, and we are not reassured unless
War has wrapped like the dead in shrouds

10. It is a war that raged so its calamities spread
And does not cease raging and overflowing

11. And its evil overwhelmed the wilderness
And it continues intensifying in overflowing

12. So it melted hearts of iron
And made the separation of children hoary

13. And wanted thousands and thousands, while my heart
Yearns, o peaks of youth

14. And made their blood flow in the
Earth copiously flowing like floods
