1. In the morning does my farewell bid the dwellings goodbye
Or in the evening, was that palace but a dream?
2. She brought me close to the apple of my eye
On a day of love and borrowed passion
3. And my farewell to youth and a heart that
When possessed by madness knows no sanity
4. So my praise of you is the best praise
Whether you come near or your home is distant
5. To you belongs my care wherever I was
And to you my dreams and poems
6. You are our care and greatest favor
Our talks though you are not visited
7. And today I see what I've long missed
And the nights when they approach short
