1. We have acquiesced to God's judgment of us
We have morals while the uncultured has wealth
١. تَراضَينا بِحُكمِ اللَهِ فينا
لَنا أَدَبٌ وَلِلثَقَفِيِّ مالُ
2. The uncultured, though his robe be generous
And his person striking, remains but an apparition
٢. وَما الثَقَفِيُّ إِن جادَت كُساهُ
وَراعَكَ شَخصُهُ إِلّا خَيالُ
