1. The water and air donned clarity,
And the meadow was clothed in splendor and beauty.
١. لَبِسَ الماءُ وَالهَواءُ صَفاءَ
وَاِكتَسى الرَوضُ بَهجَةً وَبَهاءَ
2. It was as if the wilds became gardens,
And the gardens became Eden's wilds.
٢. فَكَأَنَّ النِهاءَ صِرنَ رِياضاً
وَكَأَنَّ الرِياضَ عُدنَ نِهاءَ
3. It was as if the air turned to fragrance,
And the fragrance turned to air.
٣. وَكَأَنَّ الهَواءَ صارَ رَحيقاً
وَكَأَنَّ الرَحيقَ صارَ هَواءَ
4. By night, the sky seems an earth,
By day, you see the earth a sky.
٤. وَتَخالُ السَماءَ بِاللَيلِ أَرضاً
وَتَرى الأَرضَ بِالنَهارِ سَماءَ
5. The breezes adorned it with flowers and yellow,
The day it kept company with the winds.
٥. جَلَّلَتها الأَنواءُ زَهراً وَصُفراً
يَومَ ظَلَّت تُنادِمُ الأَنواءَ
6. You see it, between brightness and light,
Exchanging smiles and tears.
٦. فَتَراها ما بَينَ نَوءٍ وَنَورٍ
تَتَكافا تَبَسُّماً وَبُكاءَ
7. The trees remain, taking beauty
As shirts, or cloaks of grace.
٧. وَتَظَلُّ الأَشجارُ تَتَّخِذُ الحُسنَ
قَميصاً أَوِ الجَمالَ رِداءَ
8. When fruited, they wore eternity,
When leafed, they were clad in brilliance.
٨. لَبِسَت حينَ أَثمَرَت خُلُداتٍ
وَإِكتَسَت حينَ أَورَقَت سيراءَ
9. You see the cypress like pulpits glorying,
And birds above them preachers.
٩. وَتَرى السَروَ كَالمَنابِرَ تَزهى
وَتَرى الطَيرَ فَوقَها خُطَباءَ
