They donned obscurity in dawn's motley dress;

2. With camphor shaping nose and slender waist,
With henna tinging palm and finger's end;

3. With glances killing, whensoe'er they turned,
Ruby of eyes with gems they overlay lend;

4. They fly, like cranes in line, as though they were
Broods, in threes and fours, by ringdoves fed;

5. They row in air, unceasing, to and fro,
As, ceaseless rowing, sweep along the oars;

6. If, plying in the tank, you should espy them,
You'd deem them diving birds with hunger sore.
