1. The night walks with the gait of one exhausted,
In the greenness of its garb and the blackness.
١. وَاللَيلُ يَمشي مَشيَةَ الوَئيدِ
في الخُضرِ مِن لِباسِهِ وَالسودِ
2. And the dawn at its back is excellent in merit,
With Suhayl like the rumble of thunder.
٢. وَالصُبحُ في أُخراهُ ثاني الجيدِ
وَبِسُهَيلٍ رِعدَةُ المَزؤودِ
3. It has taken the place of a glorious man,
Among the stars, on an elevated plain.
٣. وَهوَ مِنَ الأَنجُمِ في مَحيدِ
حَلَّ مَحَلَّ الرَجُلِ الطَريدِ
4. With the Pleiades, it leaves a trace of somnolence,
Like a fire not revived with fuel.
٤. وَبِالثُرَيّا أَثَرَ الخُمودِ
كَالنارِ لا تُسعَفُ بِالوُقودِ
5. In stars like the blinking of the bleary-eyed,
It gleams, rising and descending.
٥. في أَنجُمٍ كَرَبرَبٍ في بيدِ
يَلوحُ في التَصويبِ وَالتَصعيدِ
6. Like the terraces of a lofty structure.
٦. كَشُرفاتِ فَدَنٍ مَشيدِ
