1. A brother of competence and wealth,
Is better guard than any sword or shield,
١. لَيسَ حَدُّ الحُسامِ أَكفى وَأَغنى
مِن أَخٍ ذي كِفايَةٍ وَغِناءِ
2. In hardship he gives refuge, in joy a crown,
No blade or armor comforts like a sibling found.
٢. وَأَخو المَرءِ عِصمَةٌ في بَلاءِ
يَعتَريهِ وَزينَةٌ في الرَخاءِ
