Reproach not the lowly, nor remind of sin,

ولا تكثر على ذي الضغن عتبا

1. Reproach not the lowly, nor remind of sin,
Ask not what is yet to be revealed,

١. وَلا تُكثِر عَلى ذي الضِغنِ عَتباً
وَلا ذِكرَ التَجَرُّمِ لِلذُنوبِ

2. Nor pry into his faults that from you've been hid.
Whene'er a friend or foe before you stands,

٢. وَلا تَسأَلهُ عَمّا سَوفَ يُبدي
وَلا عَن عَيبِهِ لَكَ بِالمَغيبِ

3. Their faces will disclose their hearts’ true plans.

٣. مَتى تَكُ في صَديقٍ أَو عَدُوٍّ
تُخَبِّركَ الوُجوهُ عَنِ القُلوبِ
