1. Mjdal departed from his people though still young
Deserted and empty did his couch remain

2. O camel, a home we have when the best of our life
Is easy and time with the living foregathering

3. A sweetheart whose love the longing of meadow effaced
For a separation, is there any life returning?

4. If you seek pagans, blameless you would be
For I am the Prophet's aide and disciple

5. The best delegation called us to them
Khuzaymah, and Mudar from them and abundant

6. So we came, a thousand strong, Sulaym their match
Raiment of David's weave for them dazzling

7. Bay'ah we gave between the trees, and only
God's hand between the trees did we give bay'ah

8. With Mahdi we stormed Makkah defiantly
With our blades as cups and mail were clashing

9. Openly, horses covering them
Hot blood from their chests spilling and streaming

10. And Day of Hunayn, when Hawazin marched
Against us, and breasts with souls were straitened

11. With Dhahhak we stood, undaunted by the blows
Of foes, their charges and their fierce attacking

12. Before Allah's Messenger, fluttering atop us
A banner like the Pleiades glittering

13. Evening Dhahhak Ibn Sufyan steadfast
With the Messenger's sword, and death fast approaching

14. We defend our brother from our brother, and if
Reconciliation we espied, we'd be pursuing

15. But the religion of Muhammad we accepted
In it guidance and law clear and concluding

16. After misguidance He established our affair
No repelling a command when God's executing
