1. I am amazed, son of Shaybah, at the forbearance of an unmarried man,
And at the dreams of people with you being absurd.

2. They say, defame whoever intended Muhammad
With injustice, and take a stand against him in defiance.

3. Either a treacherous envier or a disloyal relative of yours,
So do not let time control you because of him,

4. And you are a man from the best of slaves of Manaf.
And do not leave him as long as you live for a glorified one,

5. And be a man of help and chastity,
Who wards off enemies from a Hashemite peak.

6. For he has close kinship to you, a near relation,
And is not of an ally or client.

7. Rather, he is from Hashim, of its core,
Swimming beyond the seas, sailing.

8. And confront all the people about him and be for him
An advisor against enemies without being stern.

9. And if Quraysh becomes angry with him, then tell it:
“O cousins, your people are not weak.”

10. “What is with you covering him in darkness?
What is with latent hatreds there, fears?”

11. “Our people do not cover people's darkness,
Nor are we with what saddened them too light.”

12. “But we are people of pacts and prohibitions
And honor at Bat’haa of Mash’ar everlasting.”
