1. My night grew long with worries and wakefulness
And tears like the downpour of heavy rain

2. For the fate of Quraysh with its dreams
Can a dream return after the end of play?

3. And the exile of Quraysh, the Banu Hashim
Is like the carpenter's repudiation of the finest wood

4. And the word to Ahmad: "You are a man
Weak in argument, unreliable in reasoning"

5. Though Ahmad came to them with truth
And did not approach them with lies

6. Moreover, our brothers lined up
Against Banu Hashim and Banu al-Muttalib

7. The two brothers bound like the right hand
Their matter weighs heavily upon us

8. Oh Quraysh, have you not been told
Of what has befallen the Arabs?

9. So do not, with your hands
Seize the distant, the arrogant because of his sin

10. And you threw at Ahmad what you threw
At the noble families, the closest in lineage

11. Why, why did you collide
In a matter of caprice and untamed reason?

12. You claimed to be neighbors
And brothers in lineage

13. Then how can you be hostile to his sons
And the people of his religion, the people of merit?

14. We and all pilgrims who ride
And the Kaaba of Mecca of curtains

15. Will take on Ahmad or seek him out
Among the tips of spears and the edges of clubs

16. And you will acknowledge among yourselves
The forelocks of the noble steeds and armored horses

17. As the horses jerk in their galloping
With the walk of the she-camel and the drive of prodding

18. You see them from between the dangling straps
Short-girded, long-garmented

19. And bare like the oryx, slim and erect
Covered by the mantle after weaning

20. Upon them the honor of Banu Hashim
They are the finest along with the chosen
