1. Indeed, the trusted one Muhammad among his people
Is to me beyond the ranks of children

2. When he took hold of the reins I drew him close
Though the stallion had been sparing with provisions

3. So a copious tear streamed from my eye
Like a bursting raincloud over the lands of Bidād

4. I heeded in him an unbroken kinship
And kept in him the covenant of ancestors

5. And I called him to march among the generality
Of bright-faced seekers of high glories

6. They marched to the furthest known horizon
For the horizon stretches far for the wayfarer

7. Until when the people's eyes glimpsed sight
They met on a vantage point for ambush

8. A scholar informed them with truthful speech
About him, and rebuffed the party of enviers

9. A people, Jews, who had seen what they had seen
Baring the fangs of rancor in their livers

10. They rose up to kill Muhammad but he prevented them
From it and struggled in the best struggle

11. And Bahīrā bent his voice, so it bent
Among the people after their contention and enmity

12. And he forbid Darīs, so he desisted when forbidden
From the words of a scholar speaking with integrity
