2. When he took hold of the reins I drew him close
Though the stallion had been sparing with provisions

4. I heeded in him an unbroken kinship
And kept in him the covenant of ancestors

Of bright-faced seekers of high glories

9. A people, Jews, who had seen what they had seen
Baring the fangs of rancor in their livers

10. They rose up to kill Muhammad but he prevented them
From it and struggled in the best struggle

11. And Bahฤซrฤ bent his voice, so it bent
Among the people after their contention and enmity
