1. Did you not see me after suffering griefs I endured
Parting with a noble free man from the Abna, the generous

2. With Ahmad, when I tightened my mount's girth
With my saddle, having bid him farewell in peace

3. When he wept and the camel had knelt down with us
And he grasped the camel's noseband in his two hands

4. I remembered his father, then I shed copious tears
Flowing from my eyes, having much sadness

5. So I said, travel on as one righteous in calamities
Consoling in adversities, not base or cowardly

6. And he came with the caravan whose riding beast he joined
A Syrian in passion though not Syrian in origin

7. When we alighted in the land of Bosra, they looked out for us
Above abodes, watching our great bodies

8. Then Bahira came to us at that point, in a hurry
With good drink and food for us

9. He said, “Gather your companions,” when he saw
We said, “We have gathered the people save for a boy”

10. An orphan, so he said, “Call him, our food
Is unlawful for you without him as imam”

11. And he swore sincerely that our provisions
Would be plentiful including him, nothing unlawful

12. “Had it not been for what you told of Muhammad
You would not be honorable among us today”

13. And a band came looking for the one Bahira
Saw with his eye in the middle of the encampment

14. He bristled toward them fearing their wickedness
Though they were marked by aggression and wickedness

15. Daris, Hammam and among them was Zurayr
And all the band were not sleepy or nodding

16. They came intending to kill Muhammad
But he drove them back from him with excellent disputation

17. Explaining the Torah to them until they were certain
And he told them, “You have climbed the worst aspirations

18. Do you seek to kill the Prophet Muhammad
You are distinguished by terrible, prolonged sins”

19. “And indeed the one who protects him from you
Will suffice him against every aggressive tyrant”

20. That is from the signs and clear proofs of him
And a bright day is not like the darkness
