1. Whenever Quraysh assemble for boasting
Abd Manaf's descendant is its secret and core

2. And if the nobles of Abd Manaf's descendants are counted
Among them Hashim's nobles are the noblest and oldest

3. And if one day they boast, then Muhammad
Is the Chosen One from its secret and most generous

4. Quraysh attacked in crowds, its rabble and dignitaries
Against us but did not succeed and their minds were frustrated

5. We were of old, would not tolerate darkness
Whenever they frowned with rage, we would straighten it

6. And defend its sanctuary every hateful day
And turn away from its stones whoever covets it

7. Through us the fresh twig became verdant, indeed
In our care, it grows moist and flourishing

8. They are the most honorable chiefs in any situation
With glory that cannot be attained or matched

9. Every wilderness pays them allegiance
And the kings of earth honor them in my view forever
