تقول ابنتي أين أين الرحيل

1. My daughter asks, where, where is the departure?
And separation from me is not strange to her.

١. تَقولُ اِبنَتي أَينَ أَينَ الرَحيلُ
وَما البَينُ مِنّي بِمُستَنكَرِ

2. I said, "Leave me be, for I am a man
Who wants to see Al-Najashi in Ja'far.

٢. فَقُلتُ دَعيني فَإِنّي اِمرُؤٌ
أُريدُ النَجاشِيَّ في جَعفَرِ

3. That I may lament to him about a worry
Which I harbor, a weakness of the vulnerable.

٣. لِأَكوِيَهُ عِندَهُ كَيَّةً
أُقيمُ بِها نَخوَةَ الأَصعَرِ

4. And my turning away from Hashim
Is with what I made public, in private and openly.

٤. وَإِنَّ اِنثِنائِيَ عَن هاشمٍ
بِما اِسطَعتُ في الغَيبِ وَالمَحضَرِ

5. And about the shame of Lat's pilgrims in his saying,
'Had Lat not approved, we'd have had no rain.'

٥. وَعَن عائِبِ اللاتِ في قَولِهِ
وَلَولا رِضا اللاتِ لَم نُمطَرِ

6. I disparage Quraysh to him
Even if he's like red gold."

٦. وَإِنّي لأَشنا قُرَيشاً لَهُ
وَإِن كانَ كَالذَهَبِ الأَحمَرِ
