1. I have turned away from vain desires
And I seek guidance, yearning

2. I abandon the blameworthy entertainment
Eager to abstain from what I've been forbidden

3. I distance myself from raucous gatherings, wine and gambling
And restrain myself from dubious delights

4. My gaze used to wander ahead impulsively
As if an observant rider watched over it

5. And storms would accompany me on my travels
So the morning breeze blew behind them

6. Necks I would crane to see distraction
Taking hold of them with capable hands, leaping

7. And I would not frequent them raid after raid
Though through them I gained praise

8. Their processions in the darkness of confused misguidance
Appeared like stars above the spears

9. And I do not recall an alluring beauty
With a mouth unfit for kissing

10. I do not lend my ear to songs or melodies
That would bring flirtatious singers near me

11. You see every cheek whose moles appear as lines
With a full moon above shaded by the locks

12. When it beams radiantly leaving a flash
That reveals the moon from behind the clouds

13. And if she frowns, I swear by the rainbow of her eyebrow
I will kill some of that with a glance and eyebrow

14. I praise the steadfast heart at peace
And my blame refuses to blame the loved ones

15. And I befriend bitter patience
Though patience may yet become your companion

16. I shed the garb of youth as if
I had donned the grey hair of repentance

17. I abandon the empty wilderness
Tomorrow rising above the clouds of rhetoric

18. For since I came to his abode
I have praised the resolve found there and avoided pitfalls

19. Indeed, the eminent son of Ibn Qassim
Noble, answering the calls of the eager

20. An imam, his guidance saves us from misguidance
Just as the light of dawn eliminates the gloom

21. He defeated the armies of ignorance with his knowledge
For the superiority of knowledge over ignorance prevails

22. And he sent from his hands waves of nobility
Clouds of generosity, a mounted torrent

23. He has the lofty peak of glorious ambition
Humbling itself to glory and eminence

24. A house established by piety
With pillars and walls built

25. O scholar, firmly grounded in knowledge and wisdom
The banners humbly bow to him

26. O sea of virtue, the sea is ashamed when it sees
Its wonders, though it contains all wonders

27. Is this gem not like your eloquent words
A full moon of pearls radiating gifts upon us?

28. We have seen in you every marvel
And time continues to unfold wonders

29. Subtleties of knowledge in precise wisdom
Depicting what was absent from perceptions

30. And refined words with sincere resolve
From which we compile our books and volumes

31. Goodness in the breast of the capital is yours
It finds no joy in your absence

32. After the noblest left, the lowliest remained
Even small foreigners are feared

33. The lion gone, the fox compensated
It sufficed him, though the foxes feared

34. Had there been no merit in staying away
I would have come before the paths folded

35. But the pearl's sojourn in the sea has loftiness
It attains after dust the ascendance

36. You remain eternally praised
While eras pass away

37. And you remain with lasting virtue
I do not see time depriving you

38. You continue to dazzle brilliantly
Shining above the celestial processions

39. Your rank is too lofty to be equaled
And your resolve turns towards calamities judiciously

40. Supporting the one whose essence of precious knowledge
And sublime qualities elevated your steps

41. So that trust in you remains without doubt
Though most conjectures are liars
