1. If from his saliva dripped
Rosewater to revive souls,
١. إن يكنْ قَطَّر من رِيِقِه
ماءَ َوْردٍ لحياةِ الأنْفُسِ
2. Then from his face he revealed
The sweat of strife, the scent of breath.
٢. فلقد أبْدَى لنا من وَجْهِهِ
عَرَقُ الْفِتْنةِ عِطْرَ النَّفَسِ
