1. And my soul has been calmed and assured
By what the steed of Ibn Mudlij faced today

2. When Surāqah sought to plot against us
On a lame she-camel patched together

3. So Allah’s Messenger said: My Lord, aid him!
And whatever dire situation You relieve

4. Her hooves sank into the earth till hidden
In the belly of a rugged valley

5. So the Lord of the Throne aided him against us and repelled him
And had Allah not defended, he would have wavered
