1. I marvel at the old man's self-deprecation
And the silence of one who was most eloquent
١. عَجِبتُ بِإِزراءِ العَيِيِّ بِنَفسِهِ
وَصَمتِ الَّذي قَد كانَ بِالقَولِ أَعلَما
2. For in silence there is concealment for the aged
Yet speech reveals the inner heart of a man
٢. وَفي الصَمتِ سَترٌ لِلعَيِيِّ وَإِنَّما
صَحيفَةُ لُبِّ المَرءِ أَن يَتَكَلَّما
