1. Forgiveness from You is closer than my apology
And pardoning my mistakes with Your forbearance is more fitting
١. العَفوُ مِنكَ مِنِ اِعتِذارِيَ أَقرَبُ
وَالصَفحُ عَن زَلَلي بِحِلمِكَ أَنسَبُ
2. My excuse is evident, except I swear
I have no excuse other than that I am guilty
٢. عُذري صَريحٌ غَيرَ أَنِّيَ مُقسِمٌ
لا قُلتُ عُذراً غَيرَ أَنّي مُذنِبُ
3. O He to whose loftiness we ascend for we
Move about in the good fortune of His kingdom
٣. يا مَن نَمُتُّ إِلى عُلاهُ بِأَنَّنا
في طَيِّ نِعمَةِ مُلكِهِ نَتَقَلَّبُ
4. Truly, I wonder at my sin falling
And if I am punished for it, that is more wondrous
٤. إِنّي لَأَعجَبُ مِن وُقوعِ خَطِيَّتي
وَلَئِن جُزيتُ بِها فَذَلِكَ أَعجَبُ
