1. We eagerly desire its flames forever, to revive us after we lie dead
So that they may revive us, after we are interred

2. We craved them, and glory spread its shade over us
And the face of the earth is humble to us, good news

3. The cheek's mate—happiness adorns it
Because of the falling of water upon her cheek, a scratch

4. We unleashed upon it, to the moods, piercing swords
When they did what wounds could do with them, a slight cut

5. The flames of aromatics in the hands of sweet girls
It has flames and the darkness with it flows

6. A beam, tomorrow the blinking of joy will be erect toward it
And the glances of sorrows with it are blinded

7. I bound about me the robe of joy, and clothed it
With sincere lads—there is no cheating in their affection

8. Youth, but in knowledge, elders
When addressed they rejoiced, and when asked they rejoiced

9. We witnessed the wedding of (cool) wind, water, and dew
Blessings upon them, and the meadows are their bed

10. She appeared, manifesting herself to every sweetheart
Like Queen Bilqis in beauty, and for her the throne's pavilion

11. We drank, while Spring wove charms
Beautifully, from the dangling tear above it spray

12. A hunting ground on the cheek of hillocks displaying it
Able and in the palm of the preserve on it an inscription

13. We smelled a scent of aroma with a graceful doe
In whose splendor the hanging down (of branches) and the covering share

14. Valleys amid the curved sandy hills, tickled by live (serpents)
And protected by the might of Ibn Urtuq and his violence

15. A courageous (horse), you can see the back of steeds as his bed
And his sides hurt by the cushions and quilts

16. A young gazelle of Solomon of time, when it walks
The birds and beasts throng about him

17. A shooting star, for it falling stars are fuel, and a place of rising
And the suns of the eyes of girls in love glow from its light

18. A generous man, for it he spends his money in the dew
And the most hateful thing to him are possessions and bedding

19. Strong in energy, from a tribe who befriended battle
When the valiant arises from its evil, he flees

20. Discreet persons, adequate persons, covenants with them
Are not broken, and secrets are not divulged among them

21. A noble man, he has two fires for war and the abodes
With them there loom in the night banners trembling

22. Clamors and tumults, each takes precautions from its sparks
And the fire of homesteads, each toward its light flees

23. The lips of its plains, when they are bared
How easy to blame for it and revile the slain

24. It clove the hearts of events with its impact
And its pens shared with the fates scoring

25. Your slogan, O star of kings and their full moons
Is a generous hand, the child of praise with it grows up

26. You distracted the course of events from mankind
So their sights are blindness and their hearings deafness

27. You attacked the enemies with a raid of resolve
So they perished, and neither arrows nor might could avail them

28. You implanted both doubt in spears as if
For each limb they had in them a fang that bites

29. And I ennobled my praise, O overwhelmer of mankind
With generosity: the honey of bees is sting to it
