1. I was content with my distance from you when
I saw you bent over with hatred for me.
١. رَضيتُ بِبُعدي عَن جَنابِكَ عِندَما
رَأَيتُكَ مَطوِيَّ الضُلوعِ عَلى بُغضي
2. And I turned a blind eye whenever I saw you, whenever
Reproach was exposed that does not diminish nor diminish.
٢. وَأَغضَيتُ لَمّا أَن رَأَيتُكَ كُلَّما
تَعَرَّضَ عَتبٌ لا تَغُضُّ وَلا يُغضي
3. And I let my tears flow down my cheeks in sorrow
For you, so I divorced the eyelids from blinking.
٣. وَأَطلَقتُ دَمعي في الخُدودِ تَأَسُّفاً
عَليكَ فَطَلَّقتُ الجُفونَ مِنَ الغُمضِ
4. And I convinced myself to see you in my determination
With my heart, and some evil is lighter than some.
٤. وَأَقنَعتُ نَفسي أَن أَراكَ عَلى النَوى
بِقَلبي وَبَعضُ الشَرِّ أَهوَنُ مِن بَعضِ
