1. Springtime has arrived, so welcome its flowers
And the radiance of its joy and the light of its roses,

2. With the beauty of its sights and the fragrance of its breeze,
The elegance of its dress and the freshness of its coolness.

3. It is a season when time takes pride in it, for it is
The human of its eye and the home of its ode,

4. Its breeze makes treatment redundant,
With its gentleness when it blows and when it’s still.

5. How excellent are its blooms and fruits,
And the plants of its stars and the love of its harvest,

6. And the birds calling to each other in its trees,
Like girls in the shrine responding to his return.

7. And the branch is now clothed in leaves after
The hand of January stripped it bare,

8. Youthfulness found the elderly after becoming old,
And the water of youth flowed in the veins of its branches.

9. The roses at the top of the boughs are like
A king encircled by his retiring entourage,

10. And the buds are like pearls
Forming a necklace around the twig at its nape.

11. And the jasmine is like a lover whom
The injustice of the beloved with his distance has exasperated,

12. And look at its proud narcissus, it is as if
An eyelid awakened after long prostration.

13. And wonder at its violets and primrose,
Like speckled coins with their different currency,

14. And look from its prose to its verse,
Diverse in its chapters and stanzas.

15. Can you not see the thin cloud and what appeared
To the eye of its forms and processions?

16. And the clouds contract in the sky like gatherings
While the earth celebrates the feast of time.

17. It tearfully lamented so the anemone tore its robes
And its lily bruised its cheek from the blows.

18. And the water in the currents of the Tigris runs free
While the bridge is in its shackles and chains.

19. The cloud tells of the water in its flow
And the water tells of the cloud in its twisting,

20. So hasten to a charming garden whose shade...
To live between its carpet and its pillow.

21. And when you see the blossoms of a fresh garden,
Sip the old wine above the new.

22. From the palm of one with a flowing robe whose nature
Doubles the drunkenness of the wine with his song and ode.

23. You see your image in the clear goblet when you gaze at it
In the clarity of its cheek.

24. And when you’ve reached the limit in your wine drinking,
Reduce it to revive the intellect after its slumber.

25. For when the excess of wine increases
In drinking, the diminishing is in its limits.
