1. I warned off your birds from alighting at Sa'd,
Why then have you not warned off my birds from that?
١. زَجَرتُ مُرورَ طَيرِكُم بِسَعدٍ
فَهَلّا قَد زَجَرتَ بِذاكَ طَيري
2. You had no choice where to alight but my night walk
Brought me to you in spite of my stead.
٢. وَما خَيَّرتَ أَينَ حَلَلتَ إِلّا
وَصَلتُ إِلَيكَ إِدلاجي بِسَيري
3. My troubles persist in pursuing your foes;
When I face them or you my aim is the same.
٣. وَلَم يَبرَح إِلى أَعداكَ شَرّي
إِذا لا قَيتُهُم وَإِلَيكَ خَيري
4. Little you care where I make my abode
Yet you'll think of me should another make claim.
٤. وَلَم تَحفِل بِمَنزِلي وَلَكِن
سَتَذكُرُني إِذا جَرَّبتَ غَيري
