1. The cock crowed as he sang his tune
While eyes still heavy with sleep
١. قالَ لَنا الديكُ حينَ صَوَّت
وَالجَفنُ بِالغُمضِ قَد تَفَوَّت
2. And branches adorned with flowers
As the earth quenched its thirst with drops of rain
٢. وَالغُصنُ بِالزَهرِ قَد تَجَلّى
وَالأَرضُ بِالقَطرِ قَد تَرَوَّت
3. Oh what a pity for one who slumbers in the morn
And what a loss for one who missed the dawn
٣. يا حَيفَ مَن في الصَباحِ أَغفى
وَغَبنَ مَن لِلصَبوحِ فَوَّت
4. Awaken, for the branches are intoxicated
As the morning breeze makes them sway
٤. تَنَبَّهوا فَالغُصونُ سَكرى
إِذا ثَنَتها الصَبا تَلَوَّت
5. And the moist clouds, wrinkled garb
As if a robe that has been folded
٥. وَالغَيمُ رَطبُ الأَديمِ جَعدٌ
كَأَنَّهُ حُلَّةٌ تَطَوَّت
6. Arise and drink, for worries are but weakness
When a youth grows lax, they gain in strength
٦. قوموا اِشرَبوا فَالهُمومُ ضَعفى
إِذا تَراخى الفَتى تَقَوَّت
