Though the poor man may possess

1. Though the poor man may possess
Virtues and merits not a few,

2. No aid from him men e'er profess,
No heed to aught he says or do.

3. Were he in eloquence to vie
With Sahban, him would fools deny,

4. Or were he harsh in repartee
'This fellow is of mind scant-free',
