1. Time has passed by sins forgotten and gone astray
So enjoy the sweetness of life before life fades away

2. Our joy is complete so rise my friend
Let us regain the past by seizing the days ahead

Lest idle times go by in vain

4. Cups of ruby coronate the inclined cups
In a garden of blossoming flowers

5. The rain drips in rounds as the cup circles in the pourer’s hand
Gather my share of buds and leisure my ease on respites

6. Leave the bags of star anise ignorant
For who deserves them more than cups?

7. Cursed are the hands of those who repent drinking wine
As the cup burns like a girl’s cheek

8. But for keeping company with cups
I would have remained immune from errors

9. Follow the caller of youth during his times
And wonder at the signs within

10. Complete with them the deficiency of joy, for with the generous
They are the perfecting of pleasures

11. Those meadows and gardens are like
A boy’s cheek dotted with growth

12. Dew appears on their slopes
That the hand of the breeze picks up as rust

13. The morning breeze blows on their surfaces
With clouds dripping tears

14. Swords for lightning flash within them
Like al-Mansur’s swords in raids

15. Exhaustion in seeking praise sincerely
With determination witnessing glory

16. Some followed their passions so their passions were
Seeking the sublime and avoiding desires

17. It left depression in the prisons scattered about
So you see time shackled in its steps

18. His virtues perfected by the virtue of his creation
And his years increased the virtues

19. The world became lost through him and were it not for his generosity
People would have been drifting with no gifts

20. His treasuries weep over his money
From the burning of a heart ever regretful

21. Days smile during their crying
As if they are gloating over it

22. With your resolve ascend O son of lofty resolve
Guarded by banners of determination

23. Repel the turns of fate though they are tranquil
For calmness to it is of motions

24. The hearts of a people have yearned for you
Their mornings cast to you from the flat lands

25. They left their homes on Euphrates’ banks
And sought you out so fixated on Euphrates

26. Praising you, panegyrists offer jewels
Strung like chokers of pearls

27. Your attributes are sweet in hearts as if
They came for a transient meaning in the essence

28. The days among people you never ceased being hoped for
Clearing eyelids and filling pupils
