1. His supporters in love betrayed him,
And his brethren in rejection deceived him.

2. He is an afflicted one with no helper,
The first to turn against him was his companion.

3. His heart conceals what it has endured,
Yet its patience defeats the eyes.

4. His state is but the talk of enemies,
Though his eyes intend what his state is.

5. His heart was tasked with hiding passion,
Yet its ability for this was too difficult.

6. A trust he dreads to carry
Due to the heaviness of that burden for a human.

7. What of a lover whose wandering heart
Yearns while his loved ones are neighbors?

8. The horizon of Damascus was lit
Only by the downpour of his tears.

9. It watered the preserve of Hama's life
As well as its meadows and plains.

10. It wished well for the rebel, how it wished!
Startled by him were the caves and battlefields.

11. A valley, if a breeze passed through it
Its branches would scent with musk.

12. Its calm captures heroes
And its tranquility hunts fawns.

13. How many gazelles, shy of company,
When they bend down, their curves make them envied.

14. Near the passing winds, its branches
And those of its family resembled each other.

15. How many nights did I spend in its meadow
With its streams swollen from water?

16. The horizon serene with the stars of nighttime
Crowned with pearls were their diadems.

17. As if the Aries constellation therein
Were embraced by the moon and its entourage.

18. The house of the Ayyubids when erected
Had its foundations set by the victorious king.

19. A lofty house whose sea is abundant,
Its weights in glory remained uncorrupted.

20. No wonder it still stands tall though
Its structure was founded on kindness.

21. The Victorious One rebuilt it after
Its devil had nearly tore it down.

22. A king as if time itself were his servant
And the rest of the days his aides.

23. In his word and loyalty, he fulfilled
While their shrouds in the grave have fulfilled them.

24. He continues reviving the land with his call
And inundating the world with his flood.

25. O You, the king whose secret is
Obeying the One in charge and declaring Him.

26. The kingdom you gained has never
Cast its anchors onto another but you.

27. The vanguards of prosperity have come, and this
Is the blossoming of your age and its youth.

28. This is a telling book,
And this is its sublime title.

29. So boast, your boasting is no novelty,
For your proof has stood for the people of this age.

30. One endowed with a kingdom boasts
When kindness from his rule is displayed.

31. So what of one whose father fulfilled,
And whose father became his sultan?

32. You were made pure by your faith in Him,
And through you He purified others’ faith.

33. One who is from Ishmael’s origins
His offering cannot but be accepted.

34. A father through whom the foundations
And pillars of your house are raised high.

35. A full moon that does not lose one
Who takes him as a mother, nor his scale.

36. He nearly rushes to serve his guest
Due to his fires' craving for him.

37. If knowledge is mentioned, Nu‘man is its breeze,
Or if wisdom is mentioned, Luqman is its breeze.

38. Losing him saddened us, so the griefs
Were unveiled with the most excellent king.

39. Greetings from the Lord of the Throne unto Himself,
And may God's mercy and blessings be upon him.
