1. The neighbor should not be blamed for the faults of another neighbor,
If he remains and continues the course of loyalty.

2. Those with affection should be treated with kindness for their own sake,
And not held accountable for the deeds of others that bring shame.

3. How then have you associated the acts of aggressors with us,
Merely for the nearness of their homes to my home?

4. And why have you blamed us for what your enemies have said against you,
When I said it not, nor intended any harm?

5. Just as you hear the sound of fire in burning wood,
Yet the sound belongs to the wind, not to the fire.
