1. When I drew the lines, my observer took pity
And said to my lines, "I will erase you with rain."
١. وَلَمّا سَطَرتُ الطِرسَ أَشفَقَ ناظِري
وَقالَ لِطِرسي سَوفَ أَمحوكَ بِالهَطلِ
2. We are both blackness in whiteness, so what is it
That you wish for, to be seen before me?
٢. كِلانا سَوادٌ في بَياضِ فَما الَّذي
تَمُنُّ بِهِ حَتّى تُشاهَدَهُم قَبلي
