1. As though the Tigris and Euphrates were
Changing course, like skittish race-horses
١. وَكَأَنَّ دِجلَةَ وَالرِيا
حُ تُغَيرُ كَالخَيلِ النَوازي
2. And the fragile bridge, its wires all
Aquiver with violent shock and swaying,
٢. وَالجِسرُ واهي السِلكِ مِن
فَرطِ اِضطِرابٍ وَاِهتِزازِ
3. Like a skirt whipped about in the wind
Its intricate embroidery all askew.
٣. ثَوبٌ تُجَندِرُهُ الرِيا
حُ وَقَد أَضَرَّت بِالطِرازِ
