1. I have no opinion but to forbid
The life-giving water to those who question eternity's sons,

2. And never may the virginal praises incline their charm
To illuminate for them in the tangles of my poetry,

3. Nor make common the wedding of praise to a suitor
Even if he offer me a generous bride-price.
