1. A mirage moved on, and the star remained still in the nearby horizon
Suffering, while far from the beloved, remained still

2. Mistakes flowed like running rainwater, while between us
Were the plateaus, the towering mountains

3. With quiet steps he came to see whether my eyes had slept
And whether their watchful eyelids had dried

4. Fear God, O phantom of imagination, for they are
With the water of my life, not with my overflowing tears

5. You came to the dead lover, talking to him
After the ballistas had wept over him

6. A suitor - did Jesus son of Mary come to him
Or are you the one who will resurrect him with the trumpet?

7. Traverse the night and seek whom I love, and say to him
I will conceal what is in me, while it remains entrenched in my heart

8. I feared the breaking of the covenant from me, yet indeed
By your covenant - no, by God - I will not annul it

9. I left the world content with your love
While you appeased those hostile to me with your friendship

10. You have lost, and did not know that my resolves
With the ghosts of my worries, are joyful healers

11. My tents are lofty upon the back of the sky
While my fate lies upon the back of the galaxy, towering

12. Al-Malik al-Mansour made way for me, so he installed me
In a position for which mountains gaze in awe

13. My ambition strode towards him, so I attained him
Thus the journey is not blameworthy, nor the wall towering

14. I shed the slippers of doubt in the sanctuary of his abode
Thus the soil of his land on my cheek is sufficient as a smear

15. I escaped from the horrors when I met him
So I spend the night safely while calamities are imminent

16. I feared for the sand grouse the assault of his might
While the wild cows beneath them and the ostriches

17. The caliph of an epoch whose generosity cannot be erased
While his possessions increase, he remains indifferent

18. Khāṣib, when the land displayed its vegetation, he is forbearing
Ḥalīm, when the blamed concealed their firmly-rooted flaws

19. His creation whitens when resolved,
And his swords redden when intent on shouting

20. Traits he attained from his father and grandfather
And his swords and elders endowed him with

21. His treasures are lavished while his palms
Are a sea of dew, with no expanses between them

22. Your speech, Najm al-Dīn, is eloquence against the enemies
So how will it be when your ferocious lions are unleashed?

23. You were harsh against the enemies in war, touching them
While your branch was soft in youth, flourishing

24. You were created pleased with the Most High, your face joyous
Your generosity gushing, your glory resplendent

25. An expert in the affairs of royalty - your justice encompassing
Your knowledge abundant, your forbearance steadfast

26. You lowered vain desires to uplift degradation with benevolence
Thus for the Family of Judd you reciprocate judd, enduring

27. You were distinguished with a heart, in calamities, resilient
Thus a palm blessed with virtues supported you

28. Take praise from me and remain safe from blame
Congratulations to a mention through which you are prominent

29. A vacuum which molds praise into necklaces for you
And a reciter who sings it, and a scribe who transcribes
