1. Perhaps the nights of separation will return,
So dawn will rise after the sunset of estrangement.

2. And the quarter of intimacy will become fertile after barrenness,
And the branch of communication will bloom after being cut off.

3. Aleppo was watered from the direction of pillars though they faltered,
Its covenants with its people still stand.

4. It cheered on the summit of Al-Aqeeq a house,
The eyes of mountain goats hunt for lions.

5. When the swords are unsheathed in it,
Then the hearts of lovers are saddened.

6. With it we brought back the full moon one night,
So eyes looked upon us enviously.

7. By God, my life with the beloved I spent,
A life of happiness while time is commendable.

8. With a gazelle from the Turks in the meadow of his cheek,
A pool of beauty's water stagnated.

9. I obsessed over him passionately so he became,
The owner, the lord while we are slaves.

10. I became the son of Hammam and my hand triumphed,
Over him while Damascus equals decay.

11. Until separation passed judgement between us,
And that's what I had feared.

12. So it eclipsed a moon whose light shames the full moon,
And a branch that withers the branch when it bends.

13. I had feared the tricks of an envious rival,
Not knowing that fate was jealous of him.

14. So O you whom my heart sees though veiled,
And my thoughts find though captured.

15. If you are far from my eye then all I keep secret,
Is the dove for it is far.

16. Nothing can substitute you for me and rarely,
Can dust substitute for water.

17. If I am with my family and friends and you are not with me,
Then I am lonely amongst them.

18. And if you are brought near to me in the wilderness,
My life in wilderness would be comfortable.

19. Even if you were to be bought with treasures, I would give away,
The beads of my soul even if they were dinars.

20. But the one whose love took your heart,
Is intent on what I have become fond of.

21. It manifested for him a delicate face and stature,
Abundant foliage and widespread branches.

22. So he witnessed a moon above a branch that shades it,
Darkness that has no pillar for the morning.

23. I say while separation has come and the Turks,
Surrounded me in large numbers.

24. The gazelle blocked my view and the black lions,
Look at me carefully though they are steel.

25. May God curse them for estranging me against my will,
And accusing me of betrayal though I am friendly.

26. And whoever spent the night forcibly separated from my company,
Yearning for the intimacy of man though he yearns.

27. Neglected between beauty and the palace of my passion for him rebuilt,
Nothing remains but sorrow, remembrance,

28. And an apparition I see in my bed so it returns,
May God reward the apparition with good when it returns,

29. Travelling from the heights of Damascus seeking its like,
While we are on the summit of Mardin prone.

30. I spent a life that if we spent it awake,
Limits would have been instituted upon us by God.

31. And lightning that told of the smile of the beloved sparkling,
Weakly while the companions are asleep.

32. Teaching my eye crying though it is the expert,
Just as the hand of the righteous sultan taught generosity though he is knowledgeable.

33. A sovereign when he aims for pride his ancestors,
Rise with him to glory though they are dead.

34. If he is generous then seas of generosity are springs,
And if he is righteous then the towering suns are abundant.

35. He has leniency under violence and determination,
Above firmness ascending.

36. You straightened the deviation of truth though it is forbidden,
And shouldered the burden of rule though it is heavy.

37. And you have set sights in the grazing of the worshippers,
Through it people in the shade of security sleep.

38. And you have revived the relics of the martyr with the attainer,
With the people, he who drives them and who is martyred.

39. So what a sword in the hands of the family of Urtuq,
Defending their concerns and repelling transgression.

40. O bearer of hardships though they are calamities,
O uniter of wealth though it is armies.

41. May God reward you, you have surpassed planets in ascent,
To the highest extent so where do you want to go?

42. A group congratulate you on the happy feast,
And for me everyday that brings you joy is a feast.

43. Had the Feast of Sacrifice been a visualised praise of you,
My praise would be its necklaces though it has interlinked rings.

44. Were it not for loving you no eulogy would delight me,
Nor spread my poem between people.

45. When I undertook praise and relaxed for the dew,
We set out and each of us in seeking is outstanding.

46. We sought meaning and loftiness so I never stopped,
Composing excellent poetry while you are generous.

47. They say my vigor for journeying has diminished,
Not knowing that bounty is shackles.

48. So I said I am tired of travel since my hand triumphed,
With multiples of what I choose and desire.

49. In the presence of a sovereign like a spear, its blade,
Progressing while its shade is outstretched.

50. He woke to me while honor was sleeping from me,
And aided me while people are sitting.

51. So O direction of generosity to which the children of hope bow down,
Prostrating to its pillars and kneeling in submission.

52. May an everlasting kingdom bring you joy,
And memory amongst people scattered.

53. If the one with singular traits remains safe then no harm,
Thus is one who became unique amongst people.

54. When the light of the full moon spreads in its horizon of fortune,
It is not harmed that the sky is envious.
