1. Oh how I wish, after fate took you away
With what excuse will it plead to the Most High?
2. And how did time oppress you unjustly?
Don't you know, O Omar, it should have acted justly?
3. O son of sublime kings, time was submissive to them
And the wheel of fate came willingly under their command
4. O supporter of the faith, O you whose generosity
Spread among people, victorious over days
5. You are the generous one, without whose nobility
Generosity would be blind, with no insight
6. You give and extend, after spending, an excuse
While others' excuse without spending is sought
7. You surpassed all kings in giving and moderation
You are like the sea, with benefit and harm
8. You took on the morals of the sun of faith
And the sun takes its light from the moon
9. You strove in seeking the Most High, persevering
And none dares take risks but those with daring
10. You raised your fame through grace, seeking help
Through it, while others boast of wealth
11. Your generosity was the spring of my life
When I attained it, and your green meadows embraced me
12. I disdain to call upon you in hope
Without being answered by a downpour from you
13. And that throngs flock to your rainclouds
While from you comes no eye nor trace
14. Your eulogies pleased me after praise, but he
After joy, sorrow and thought afflicted me
15. As if your grief over names were hell
Leaving neither in the heart nor passing it by
16. The rainclouds watered your tomb inclining
Until flowers adorn its farthest edge
17. How can I ask the rainclouds for a shower
When you settled in it, and in it the sea and the rain?
