1. O Solace for the sickness of my heart, unwavering
Standing firm upon the love of old,

2. If you sleep away from me, after you my heart
Spends each day imprisoned, dwelling,

3. Or else my thoughts remember you amidst my breast’s
Inner depths, while my eyes endure torment most dire,

4. So when will time allow us to meet again,
Two lovers escaping the flames within hellfire?

5. And say: “O fire, be coolness and safety,”
As for Abraham, so let it be.

6. O most sublime, whom God ransomed highly
When for Him, a father slayed his son, a great offering.

7. If I could, I'd ransom your closeness
With my dark-skinned cheeks and innermost soul.
