1. You burdened us with excessive favors
But Allah is sufficient for us, and an Excellent Guardian
١. حَمَّلتَنا بِالمَنِّ حِملاً ثَقَيل
فَحَسبُنا اللَهُ وَنِعمَ الوَكيل
2. You claimed to be virtuous and generous
But you were not of that kind
٢. وَقُلتَ إِنّي مُحسِنٌ مُجمِلٌ
وَلَم تَكُن مِن أَهلِ هَذا القَبيل
3. It was just a coincidence
And I will repay you before long
٣. وَإِنَّما كانَ اِتَّفاقاً جَرى
وَسَوفَ أَجزيكَ بِهِ عَن قَليل
4. And if I die beforehand, may you benefit from it
For in the cause of Allah is the best cause
٤. وَإِن أَمُت مِن قَبلِ فَوزي بِهِ
فَفي سَبيلِ اللَهِ خَيرُ السَبيل
