1. With Al-Murtada’s death, every devoted follower grieved,
And every person of faith and reason became distressed.

2. Every possessor of knowledge and wisdom was extinguished,
And every beloved one was saddened.

3. The cities and lands were darkened,
With the death of the righteous, devoted scholar.

4. The firmaments nearly collapsed,
Upon the hills and mounds.

5. The earth nearly quaked,
With all who were on it, and every living thing was stunned.

6. The full moon nearly eclipsed, and meteors,
Nearly scattered before the loss of the wretched one.

7. With the death of the eminent Sayyid,
Known as Salih, the fortunate, the Zamali.

8. With the death of the devoted scholar,
The noble father, the erudite guardian.

9. My brother of nobility, aid, and glories,
Ally of generosity, of brilliant discernment.

10. On Saturday morning, of the month of Rabi`,
The virtuous one of pure essence passed away.

11. A thousand and three had elapsed,
Added to the seventies that had passed.

12. No wonder that my eyelids shed,
Blood after losing the virtuous one.

13. No shame that cares,
And sorrows have overcome us for the undiluted sincere one.

14. O you who were dear in the lands,
With a good, comfortable life.

15. You were honored, O owner of glories,
For your advanced knowledge, among the people.

16. You were noble, O owner of virtues,
For your shining light, among the people.

17. Yet now your pure being lies buried,
In a desolate, obscure, hidden grave.

18. Your splendid image is hidden from us,
And only your mention remains, calling.

19. O sea that settled in the belly of a wasteland!
May your Lord's prayers be upon you, O devout one.

20. Your tragedy has afflicted all the lands,
All the elite and commoner.

21. It has orphaned the near and far,
All the lowly and the lofty.

22. With your death, you have saddened all people,
The great and the young.

23. You have bequeathed sorrow to all creatures,
With the death of the outcast or the wealthy.

24. You have given the people cups of grief to drink,
With your death, O eloquent or mute one.

25. You harbored generosity and knowledge,
And excelled the worlds with your excellent conduct.

26. You cherished knowledge with understanding and wisdom,
And a sound, pure, brilliant intellect.

27. You taught propriety to every tongue,
And saved the people from all disgrace.

28. So which person, near or far,
Is not mourning your death, O aggrieved one?

29. And who has not been touched with worries and sorrows
By your death, O distressed one?

30. Visit his grave, O Al-Nuzwah,
In the mornings and evenings.

31. O how you are a gap that no door
Could close, if not for Ibn Saif Al-Ya’rubi.

32. He is Sultan, son of Saif,
The lineage of the astute, wise king.

33. A just, righteous, protective imam,
Who has excellently enacted loyalty and righteousness.

34. God has certainly favored us through him,
And chosen him, my noble father.

35. He has brought goodness to all people,
And after drought, given them life.

36. He has saved them all from affliction,
And cleansed their honor from all disgrace.

37. May my Lord, God, at all times,
Pray upon the best of creation, from ancient times,

38. Upon the best of creation, from progeny,
Intercessor of mankind, Ahmad the Prophet.
