1. My eyelids were denied the sweetness of slumber,
So insomnia took over after you all left.

2. My body too does not settle on a mattress,
As if the mattress were prickly brushwood.

3. You have prolonged our separation after closeness,
You did not realize our torment in remoteness.

4. Long has been my happiness when I met you,
But as long as my bliss remains, so be it.

5. My patience after you is decreasing,
In proportion to my longing for you increasing,

6. My yearning for you and my moaning for you,
How can I hide my love when it's obvious?

7. Wondrous that I yearn to see you when you
Reside in the place of my blackness of eye.

8. O people of Ghweir, no wonder I wake up
Gloomy-hearted after you left.

9. You have broken your promise and covenant,
While I have never broken my pledge.

10. Alas! Happiest were we when fate allowed,
The meeting of Thabeenah and bliss!

11. Her stature kept bending my heart,
And her cheek kept kindling my soul.

12. The burning of my heart, soul and intestines,
Is from the embers of her flaming cheek.

13. My hope is that sickness will not leave me,
So it can always be my habit.

14. My illness is her estrangement after enjoyment,
And avoiding and distance after intimacy.

15. My cure from sickness is to sip
Her saliva along with embracing her bendable branch.

16. And clinging of cheeks sensing and embracing,
And embracing shoulders with shoulders.

17. And encircling waists intensely and kissing,
And holding chests to chests.

18. She is seduction to people, if not for her love,
Evil would not turn to goodness in passion.

19. She has scorched my mind with the ember of her cheek,
And emaciated my body with hot dark coal.

20. So I contained passion without revealing it,
And beauty prevailed without any ugliness.

21. She sways unsteadily and walks gently,
And bends with dreaminess and innocence.

22. She is naturally fragrant with musk and flowers,
And brilliance in her wearing and beauty.

23. Juicy, white, flexible, well-built,
A delicate body with a heart of stone.

24. She persisted in aloofness while I
Did not change my love and affection.

25. She neglected her affection through the nights,
So time erased it like erasing ink.

26. Erased the might of the Imam of justice, Sultan
Bin Seif, machinations of enemies.

27. He is the sea of generosity, kindness, compassion,
Benevolence, guidance and righteousness.

28. Arab, refined, glorious, generous,
Honorable, the cave of guidance, best guide.

29. A lion, horseman, beautiful, noble,
Lofty lineage, pure ancestors.

30. Al-Lawdha'i, Sumaitha'i, Uray'hi,
He is the sea of generosity, best horseman.

31. May God make his rule eternal among us,
Despite the multitude of enviers.

32. Live, be generous, gain renown, excel,
And remain in the kingdom, O generous hands.

33. Defend, raid the enemies, and defeat the adversaries,
Deter, avert the hatred, and fulfill my hopes.

34. You live and delight, increase, defend and be praised,
Be kind, conceal, O long pillar!

35. You and your sons are people of nobility and justice,
Pride, honor, integrity and righteousness.

36. May God strengthen your rule and be pleased with you,
And choose you over all people.

37. Your praise repeats in all regions, in Egypt, Levant or Baghdad,
And you settled safely with armies deterring and warring in all the lands.

38. The lowly, disgraced and humiliated became captive,
No ransomer avails him today.

39. He settled the ruggedness after stability,
So you see him roaming in every valley.

40. May God destroy his realm wherever it was,
Proclaimed in every high place.

41. You charged them a raid known for whiteness and shininess,
With unsheathed swords amidst the slain.

42. And a fierce falcon in the hands of elders,
We do not fail to aim at the sturdy prey.

And young men fiercer than lions, staunch,

44. They do not settle, harvesting time with diligence.
In armies billowing like the swelling sea,

45. With surges hurling like pegs.
With steeds, stallions, thoroughbreds, generous,

46. Well-trained, noble chargers.
As if the armies were the wind of Aad,

47. And the enemies were swarms of locusts.
So God scattered them and flung them,

48. Their time with blindness and much regret.
The heat of hatred burned them in the chest,

49. So they became by their hatred like ashes.
And their prominence returned after wearing mourning robes,

50. Strutting in their mourning clothes.
O young man, our sword, and refuge of morals,

51. Nay, O pulverizer of the bold lions!
My praise of you is by which I hope

52. For success tomorrow and salvation on the Day of Recompense,
And gladness for us and sorrow for the enemies,

53. This is my intention and belief.
And my reliance is to dedicate my praise to none but you,

54. For this is my conviction and reliance.
And my habit is to praise and laud you,

55. I do not desire by nature other than my habit.
Swaying in clothes of glories and splendors.

56. Composed by a skillful ally of rhymes,
Whose difficult sorrow to him is like very soft wool.

57. She is like a pearl and coral in purity,
A daughter of noble thought, noble birth.

58. Of beauty that has precedence over poetry,
Like the precedence of forefathers and ancestors.

59. Adorning her is your praise and excellent wording,
Subtle, fine, with splendid meanings.
