1. The day of parting was so hard
Reproach me less, or reproach me more

2. I do not listen to the words of a censurer
Do not prolong blame and refutation

3. Leave me alone, for my state has sufficed me
I do not suffer, and I do not seek more

4. I have no opinion in love, and if not for
Love, the gazelles would not hunt the black lions

5. And leave me to cry and mourn my beloved
With neither a remedy, nor effort, nor chrysolite

6. Perhaps I may heal the sickness of longing
With kissing the traces and ashes

7. The blamers wrongfully blamed me out of ignorance
Their refutation led them far astray

8. Since the beloved turned away, I lost my patience
And took to love and sleeplessness

9. O you who turned away from me
I became confused, pledged to you

10. And strangely I want none but you
Yet you bar me from seeing you

11. You distanced yourselves from me, and my life before
Was, because of your nearness, happy

12. I kept long vigils by night
And deserted sleep for a prolonged estrangement

13. You are far from me, and so pained my heart
With your estrangement, a great pain

14. I wish our nights would return
But I think they will not

15. Perhaps fate will be kind and allow us to meet
But I think it will not be kind

16. The lovers think, from the intensity
Of torment, they will not create something new

17. Tell the people of love, passion, and separation
To become rocks or iron

18. Throughout their long lives they do not awaken
And they appear to people as skin without feeling

19. Tears confess from them what they conceal
In love, if they wanted denial

20. Whenever passion created something new
They renewed it with a new desire

21. If they created, from this torment
Skins of fire, it would create for them skins

22. The remedy of lovers from the pain of passion
Is only to meet cheek to cheek

23. To the heart that became bound and leader
In love, his actions were praiseworthy

24. The secret keeper, the generous, the loyal
The wise, the easy, the forbearing guide

25. The protector of the offender when he came regretfully
The generous, the respected, the purposeful

26. The bountiful, the noble, the intercessor
The pure, the gentle, the praiseworthy sword

27. O son of the Chosen Imam who was made
Happy by him and miserable without him

28. O son of the most generous of mankind, generosity
Became existent through your open hands

29. O scion of the generous, your enemies
Became witnesses to your generosity and munificence

30. Kings bow involuntarily and reluctantly
In prostration to your abode

31. So you have filled the eminent, and the nights poured
And humbled the arrogant, and enriched the delegations

32. The free were enslaved by your generosity and endeavor
And you made them, despite their freedom, servants

33. You, O son of the generous, are the greatest in glory
And the most munificent in help and generosity

34. The most honourable of mankind and the highest in banner
And the most protective in zeal and sacrifice

35. And the greatest of kings in worth and the most faithful
In covenants, position and promises

36. You are the highest of them, the greatest in might
And number, equipment and armies

37. I seek generosity from your reservoir, for the flow
Of your generosity never ceases

38. Your kingdom remains strong and your endeavor
Dear, your door sought after

39. Your protector glorified and your aid
Overflowing and your enemy expelled

40. Your hand outstretched and your harm poisonous
Your prominence extended and your enemy absent

41. Like disseminated light, finding smoothness and promises
Luminous, as if the sun in brilliance

42. And like lightning that found happiness
And rhymes - if the flirtatious saw them

43. They would string them into necklaces and bracelets
With ideas more delicate than the body of water

44. But they shatter solidity
For they comfort hearts from every distress

45. But spurn the mean envier
Not all verse is poetry, nor all

46. Meters considered dripping honey
