1. O Ameem, see the torment of the ardent lover,
And his passion for your slender, beloved figure,

2. Molded from the silver of ingots, myrrh and agate fragments,
It almost extinguished the gazelle and the full moon with its dawn radiance.

3. Give me a glance, for my heart is intoxicated and pounding,
What is sweeter than the gaze of the lover upon the face of his beloved?

4. I am lost in the love of Ameem, joyous forevermore, not awakening,
She tormented me with her estrangement and made lawful the killing of a fettered, bound passion.

5. She glanced with eyes askance, then turned away,
Swaying with a slender, delicate gait.

6. A frustrated, ardent lover, cast by Ameem,
Into torment, humiliation and confinement.

7. She attained beauty as I attained love,
From every infatuated, ardent admirer.

8. My body lies prostrate among the gravel,
While my heart pursues that company.

9. How can a sick man find pleasure in slumber,
When worries of the people of passion besiege him?

10. Their concerns intoxicated me when they turned away,
As if I drank a cup of pure wine.

11. Why this passion for one who spurned me,
Forsaking me, my love and clearing my path?

12. I do not heed one who turned away and parted,
Calling for separation and division.

13. The best praise is for the best of all creation,
Ahmad, the guide on the path.

14. God granted him radiance and mercy,
Then the Quran and its verification.

15. And God protected him from every insolent defamer,
Victorious in security and success.

16. He is my comfort, my master and my refuge,
And my intercessor from the heat of the blazing fire.

17. He defeated disbelief with prophecy and victory,
And with might he humbled the transgressors.

18. The roads were illuminated by his light,
Like suns or lightning.

19. He is the cave of lords on a day of punishment,
The day they will come from every deep pit.

20. In him God forgives my sins,
And is merciful to me in ease or hardship.
