1. As if my tears like torrents streamed forth,
And set on fire the thickets and the brushwood;
١. كأنّي وقد فاضَت سُيولُ مدامعى
فشَبَّت حريقاً فى الحشَا والتَّرائبِ
2. A boat is she, this lyre of mine, that speeds
Along the surface of the brimming tears
٢. ذُبالَةُ قِنديلٍ تَعُومُ بمائها
وتُشعَلُ فيها النَّارُ من كلِّ جانبِ
