2. From beneath their languid lids they glance down at us,
Thus do eyes glance from beneath their lids.

3. Lend an attentive eye to the rhythm of my verse,
For in its folds alchemy lies hidden.

4. Your hand has aided it, for when giving
It becomes for us a helping hand.

5. You bestow kindness, then reclaim it
As precious praise belonging to you.
