1. The death of Muhammad was sorrow
That left no living being on earth without trembling.

2. The right hand of Allah's Messenger was life for them.
Blessed is he who attained his companionship alive or dead.

3. It destroys whoever was barren on earth.
It left no tribe or living being on earth.

4. My heart melts when I remember his loss.
So I pray for patience - alas no life!

5. Yearning for him bends a branch yet no shadow of a living body is seen.
Grief weakens my body after his death

6. Folding it in the cold shroud.
He represents everything to me so I see

7. Nothing but him as if all else was nothing.
My soul wishes for his fragrance to blow

8. How beautiful the sight and how sweet the scent.
Grief is removed from me by remembering meeting him

9. Cooling my insides, and thirst becomes quenched.
My heart dies then lives again by remembering him

10. And were it not for hoping to be near him soon it would not live.
