1. The tears of passion's devils flow
So trade, for profit lies in flow

2. I hoped my Lord would pardon me, in fear
And praise the Prophet, pure and kind of soul

3. I hoped for bounty universal, He
I hoped, and so to wages turned my ode

4. I barred the Prophet's praise and made it
Poems I gifted, hoping for reward untold

5. To self I turned and said: "Return,
My soul, from abandonment! Fear abandonment!"

6. Returning to my Master, gratitude,
For I was called to wage and warned of woe

7. My balance hoping I reproached
To save it from the curse of scolding woe

8. The warlike men of knowledge rose at his command
And brought a host of resolute souls in tow

9. Auspicious and successful in its benefit
Each soul behind it pulls its load and goes

10. Their saddles smell of their sweet bodies
Their souls are not confined by Houri glow
