1. A conquest whose smile lit up the universe, have I seen
A sweeter or fairer smile or mouth than it?

2. A conquest like the blossoming of a garden,
And the birds trilling songs in its branches,

3. A conquest like the dawn rending the garment of night,
And lightning embroidering flags in its plains,

4. For it paradise unveiled its gates,
And the heart of religion was blessed,

5. God did not break His promise that He made,
So give thanks, may He increase the fortune He decreed,

6. With the conquest of Marrakesh joy spread
Except to the heart of one who wronged,

7. God favored him, our Prince, as
He favored his father, and made its conquest smooth for them,

8. So his familiar good fortune continued
With the good fortune of his victorious father,

9. The state of religion and world rejoiced
In the conquest, victory and support between them

10. The land awoke from a dream, awake
As the sugar and dreams were made sweet,

11. For it saw the banner of the Sultan raised
On its horizon, it gnashed its teeth in regret,

12. It drew gently from him words of his nature
To scorn sin though great, and the sinner,

13. It is God’s way to give life to His creation
By your hand, and suffice them vengeance,

14. And to establish Islam by you from enemies,
And perpetuate kindness and grace by you,

15. And to gladden the eyes of Muslims, and
To heal hearts, and cure all sickness through you,

16. Good tidings my king of the world and its guardian,
For you are best of those who sheltered and had mercy,

17. If we copied your virtues that you were kind,
And saw no harm in them, to honor generosity,

18. As we looked at your right hand with resolve,
And saw no sword in it but that which yields to the pen,

19. The tongues of poetry and pens came together in you,
Until the tongues of nations were silenced,

20. To God belongs a peerless king like you,
Without you the existence of religion would cease,

21. A king of insight into the state of affairs, of
Correct opinion, and cure that takes away pain,

22. The justice of rule decisive in will, moderate
Like the wind blowing with justice whenever resolved,

23. A sword and lenience, pardon after ability,
And severity, and deliberation that combines wisdom,

24. If absent from you then the ear witnesses,
And if you observe then though silent, understands,

25. God granted him knowledge from His presence so he had
No need of anyone in a knowledge of the learned,

26. And whoever the Creator chose for religion,
He gave light to dispel darkness and gloom,

27. Glory to Him who singled you out with all merit,
And gifted you sublime traits and honor,

28. It is right that when seeing you it says,
He was not mortal but a merciful king,

29. No wonder, for perfection in his attributes follows,
And he transcended in his sublime kingship and mark,

30. The West prides itself over the East through him,
And his people make the Arabs and non-Arabs quake,

31. My master, congratulations on the victory granted,
Over enemies who fell into confusion and blindness,

32. Soon to your right hand will be their return,
For man is recompensed only for what he did,

33. Where can they flee, and God's horses pursue them?
None will God protect but those you had mercy on,

34. How many insisting were struck by your hand,
And repentant fugitives who sought asylum,

35. You are the Imam, overlooking some mistake,
While some ruins deeds and sanctity,

36. God sufficed striking the betrayers, and
Relieved the stumbling of those who erred, and had mercy,

37. Oh daughter of my thoughts, cast off your veil,
When you reach his court, then scatter poetry,

38. Then bow down in a carpet with no cushion,
So the head strains against the feet,

39. And remind him though reminding benefits,
It was decreed in the decisive Scripture,

40. From his servant Malik, owned by his rule
Over old and young, and the master regards elders,
