1. I saw the young man who does not tire of hope,
Though doing good tires the doer.

2. He feels safe from time though he sees its deception,
And hears of its betrayal from the first.

3. Are not the stars of dawn but gazelles
And are not the shooting stars but missiles?

4. Do you think this world of yours a bride
Who comes to you affectionately with swaying gait?

5. And that the stars on it are jewelry
And that the moons on it are anklets?

6. And if it dawns with a glow, it leaves it
Like blush on its cheeks out of shyness.

7. The glow of horizon is not out of compassion,
If it had any, except tears of bleeding.

8. That cloud and lightning,
Are shields that are ripped and staffs that are broken.

9. If time treats you well one day it will treat you badly the next,
We love time but do not fear its tyranny,

10. Though our fathers were killed by its arrows,
Shot by fate's bow that does not miss.

11. Only this archer carries the spear
To strike the nation on which it carries.

12. My friend! Where is the time of youth
And where is the gazelle and where is the love?

13. Was it not like a phantom of imagination
That hurt and did not stay until it vanished?

14. I recall our days with the saddles
When time forgot those it forgot.

15. When dreams left us the stick
So it became firewood and goat herding.

16. Whether we camped among the shades
Or walked beneath the shades,

17. We would wander between the bending of branches
And between the bending of anklets.

18. We would snap the twigs of wishful thinking in embrace
And pluck the flowers of acceptance in kisses.

19. I used to fear the clamor out of fear
For one who gives affection that he may be scorned.

20. I did not fear the talk of the slim as much
As I feared the talk of the slanderer.

21. Where are the soft, delicate wrists
When compared to the wrists of palm trees?

22. I spent time courting beauties in amusement
I wish I had spent a time that connected!

23. And I said to my courted in coquetry,
“The lover of coquetry is the enemy of chastity.”

24. So when grey hair appeared, it alerted me
With their indifference to what had occurred.

25. I left them because I saw
Defects in the affection among them.

26. That is how rights are, if not fulfilled,
Leave them and do not accept less.

27. I began to dislike youth and pleasure,
And the disposition that dislikes honey.

28. Youth only adorns nonsense
And drinking only adorns vices.

29. Time revolves like the circulation of winds,
Sometimes south and sometimes north.

30. One day it strengthens and one day it weakens,
So many it strengthened and so many it weakened!

31. People are but like the stars,
A star only rises to set.

32. A person is but like a plant,
He only diminishes no matter how complete.

33. If you say “Can youth return?”
Stop saying “if” after this question!

34. Will the moon return to its fullness?
Youth that is spent does not return.

35. The dress of spring fades on the meadows
But it is renewed again from its source.

36. Of course, the meadows are recreated
But youth is gone after its term.

37. It commands seeking wealth
But does not know wealth is attained.

38. Far from contentment, the content are pleased
So resolve, for contentment is enough for me.

39. This is only from the stinginess of time,
How many gained from stinginess!

40. If it is said he is lazy, say “yes”,
When despair overcomes, there is laziness.

41. My determination did not tire,
But it was clear my fortune tired.

42. Not every asker have I given
Nor has every giver asked.

43. In sustenance, the foolish equal the wise
And in fortune, the coward equals the brave.

44. But if fortunes were by merit
Then I would not be tested!

45. Yet if you do look,
The claim of merit is invalid speech.

46. Many without merit are stripped of merit,
Of different talents and various tricks.

47. Merits are attributed to the eloquent
But by God, most of them have no merit!

48. How many who analogized did not analogize
And how many transmitters transmitted nothing!

49. Without prophethood mankind would be misguided
And whoever does not see a star in the night, strays.

50. I praise Ahmad, Ahmad came
With the best, the best of messengers.

51. He is the Chosen One, he is the Selected One,
He is the Praised One, he is the Purified One.

52. He is the greatest in religions,
The most generous in states.

53. His birth was surely a mercy,
With which we were quenched, all regions and hills.

54. His birth was surely a mercy,
With which we stayed, between river and shade.

55. To him are the miracles that showed
To the seeing eye the falsehood of tricks.

56. From the moon splitting so that
Through its split, the mountain appeared.

57. To the Ascension of his soul and body
To the Presence of the Eternal Holiness,

58. Where no sphere revolves
And no angel rules.

59. There, the bucket did not precede the water wheel
And the bull did not follow the ram.

60. There, Jupiter did not buy in its orbit
And Saturn did not circulate in its scope.

61. The inanimate greeted him with peace
And the camel turned to complain to him.

62. The palm trunk inclined toward him in the morning,
As he climbed the pulpit, until it passed away.

63. The wolf believed him when he called it
And said, “Do you testify?” It said, “Yes.”

64. An old Jewish woman gifted him a sheep
That she had poisoned but when he ate it did no harm.

65. Al-Muzni debated him when he called
And the udder flowed for him when he descended.

66. Qatadah was ashamed of his blindness,
Competing with Azrq but no shame came upon him.

67. His eye flowed down his cheek
But he quickly wiped it away.

68. So it became, as the describers mentioned,
More beautiful than his eyes when he gained independence.

69. He gave the banners of conquest to Ali
And cured his eyes when he spit.

70. In the cave there was a sign for him
In the spider's web when he entered.

71. Those crevices were sealed off from him
And those paths were shaken off him.

72. Suraqah passed him subsequently
But sank and did not rise from the mud.

73. Nothing saved him but a prayer
He prayed for him after time passed.

74. It's enough that he has over a thousand miracles
Transmitted, more than what is quoted.

75. Before his birth, the Quraish were told
Along with Abdul Muttalib about this.

76. So some in Mecca said “perhaps”
While some in Yathrib said “maybe”.

77. One said “his star has appeared”
And one said “his time has come.”

78. Amongst the Persians before him
In the days of Chosroes, was great news,

79. The sword told him of its edge
And honored his resting place when he passed away.

80. They were keen to see his face
Saying “Would that he had come!”

81. But when he came, Quraish denied him
And harmed him severely, but he endured.

82. He brought them the clarifying book
But they said “he fabricated it” and “he plagiarized”.

83. Tell them about Badr when
He punished them with pieces and fragments.

84. He tore their Abu Jahl apart
Along with Uqbah and Al-Nadr, people of debate.

85. The opening of Mecca brought forgiveness
And though they came to him in intense fear,

86. They said, “we were confused”, and had he willed
Confusion would not have helped them.

87. But he pardoned with magnanimity
And granted security after confusion.

88. As for Hawazin, when they betrayed him
At Hunayn and the road narrowed,

89. Men marched around them in cycles
And feet slipped among slips,

90. Shortly, the winds of victory blew
To cool its edges with moisture,

91. And the call was made so the steadfast lightened
And the call passed so necks leaned forward,

92. They leapt over the backs of the brave
And crowded into the chests of lions.

93. They flew at him with the meteors of spears
Like winds blowing flames.

94. The crowds prevented them and they threw
Their swords and broke their weapons.

95. How many riders left their rides
And how many armed left their weapons!

96. And they came to him few, and he had
No way to face them.

97. As if a herd glance at the land
And see a pack of partridges.

98. They fled through it like winds blowing ashes
Till what remained settled beneath the smoke.

99. Gabriel came in a stroke
Striking their faces from the front.

100. Armies with whom the Muslims gained victory
And by evening their enemy was abandoned.

101. Some fled fearing the night
While others died beneath the smoke.

102. They left their children to the captives
And their money to the spoils there.

103. His army roamed their homes
And dispersed them in the threshing floors.

104. They spent the night while the sword
Satiated itself on their tails where it sat.

105. And the religion of truth appeared victorious
Stirring the dust with the train of its bouquet.

106. Afterwards, they came in reform
And hoped in him, attaining hope.

107. He returned their children to them
But for the swords, he would have returned the camels.

108. So he was gentle, kind, merciful,
Generous, saying and then doing.

109. Pardoning when they sinned, affectionate
When they cut ties, always benevolent, never tiring.

110. Open-handed, trivial to him
Were thousands when it came to giving and sacrifice.

111. He does not debate the false claimant
Nor fight whoever fights him.

112. How many expeditions he organized
Which Allah used to disgrace the misguided!

113. As for the Jews, their harm did not wane
Nor were their tricks cut short.

114. So he brought down Bani Qinaqa
Their settlements, and they were evilest place.

115. He exiled them so they lived in security
Due to their mediator who was awaited.

116. As for Nadir, their faces had no light,
A folk of scheming and wickedness.

117. They conspired to kill him decisively
So he punished them after long patience.

118. He brought them down from their strongholds
And disturbed them in humiliation and disgrace.

119. As for Qurayza, the affliction befell them
And the decree was due upon them.

120. Because they incited the polytheists against him
So they tightened their saddles against him.

121. They came to war because of that
Overcoming adversity and overcoming trails.

122. So Allah separated them after they gathered
And scattered their gathering that celebrated.

123. He punished Qurayza with the sword, not leaving
Any man among them who had saddled.

124. The stories of Khaybar are well known
And I am knowledgeable about them if you ask.

125. He took charge of their firm siege
So a knot befell them that did not undo.

126. They said “we accept to be your workers
And not move away.”

127. After this, his face turned
To Mecca as he was busy with them.

128. Polytheism obeyed him submissively like a bowl
And the Jews to him became like servants.

129. Your Lord fulfilled His promise
And the religion of truth was completed.

130. No association remained in the land by covenant
Apart from the sword or compliant tradition.

131. He conveyed from His Lord warning
And detailed the understanding in those phrases.

132. No argument remained for people
Against the one God exalted and majestic.

133. So then, his Lord singled him out
By giving him the choice of departure or stay.

134. He did not choose but the highest companion
And did not lean except to the greatest grace.

135. Oh what sorrow, the arm sorrowed
And struggled against patience until it twisted!

136. Oh what distress, it distressed mountains
To melt for it the pillars of darkness!

137. Oh what agony, inciting hearts!
Not a heart left except it burnt for him!

138. Oh master of men! You are the intercessor
And you are the pillar when the servant slips.

139. You are hope the day fear comes
And you are safety the day distress draws near.

140. So the God of the heavens prays upon you
A multiplied, continuous prayer.

141. The God of the heavens prays upon you
An eternal prayer that does not disconnect.

142. A prayer that by it the noble places are perfumed
When it blows, and by it the roots are perfumed.
