قل لأمين الدين يا من له

1. Tell Amin al-Din, O you whose
Hand takes the place of the raining clouds

١. قل لأمين الدين يا من له
كفّ تنوب الواكف الماطرا

2. And when the ambitious one is given good news
I saw a radiant, cheerful face

٢. ومن إذا بُشِّر بالمجتدي
رأيت وجها مشرقا باشرا

3. Do not blame me from Babylon until I see
It thriving, immersed

٣. لامتّ من بابل حتى أرى
عامرها عن كثب غامرا

4. And how can I not pray against a country
Since you became its forbidder and commander there

٤. وكيف لا أَدعو على بلدة
مذ صرتَ فيها ناهيا آمرا

5. You cut off ties with me and forgot me
Yet you were still remembering our connection

٥. قطعت رسمي وتناسيتني
ولم تزل لي وأصلا ذاكرا

6. And if you changed, there is no solution
I think of you as the writer and the overseer

٦. وإن تغيّرت فلا حيلة
أَحسبك الكاتب والناظرا

7. Two whom my desire to praise never
Occured to me, nor did I ever have the notion

٧. اثنان ما خاطر مدحي ولا
شعث يوما لهما خاطرا

8. So let him know, by Allah, I am a man
Who thanks them both sincerely

٨. فاعلمها بالله إني امرؤ
أضحي بفضل لهما شاكرا

9. Please, my lord, pay generously
The poet skilled in perfection

٩. وانعم ووف المهر يا سيّدي
على التمام الشاعر الماهرا

10. And keep giving thanks, and do not refuse
One who has only seen you as thankful and spreading

١٠. واستدم الشكر ولا تطو من
لم ير إلا شاكرا ناشرا
