1. O one who veils the radiant clouds,
You remain the full moon of dew and grove.

2. You have made the fertile land overflow,
With torrents and floods through the valley.

3. O you whose generosity is renewed
For those present and absent alike.

4. O you whose favor is sought
In times of drought and sterility.

5. O you who gives without limit
When asked, not stinting your gift.

6. Your generous hands have enriched me,
So I need no other's.

7. How you have lessened with your rain
The bitter grief in my heart's drought.

8. You have freed me from shackles
So I escaped like a prisoner from chains.

9. And when wars grew severe
And ruin came to our homes,

10. You led the white swords
That march forth in fine robes.

11. You became the best gift for one who sees
In you a respite from disasters.

12. O glorious pillar of weapons and gifts and ashes,
Joy still proclaims itself in your presence.

13. I stand in my father Sa'id's honor,
The dewy one, calling out in the grove.

14. The brave leader makes his army surge
With the stallions charging over the plain.

15. The piercing lancer shows you
The mouths of the trembling spears.

16. And when he grasps his weapons,
He gives generously without restraint.

17. I saw Hatim and witnessed Qais
In their most generous days.

18. Easy for the people's allegiance, but hard
In driving away enemies.

19. He brings glory that rushes to aid
And length in spears.

20. Known for kindness that mocks
The jealous with gifts for all.

21. My lord, the radiant, high summit,
How many have found rest in your shelter.

22. Bring me a shining sword
Or an Indian blade, pure and black,

23. Its color like the night, a star
Whose rising the Pleiades obey.

24. The torrents have left it in the valleys
For the sharp-edged rocks.

25. The four winds competed
To hone its four edges.

26. It kept pace with lightning, guiding it
In its course, a willing, gentle guide.

27. You have been just in seeking
A steed from a stud of steeds.

28. Now listen to melodious poetry,
Sweet in meaning, freshly coined.

29. Verses that have become provisions
For nobility, gifts for chiefs.

30. Draw the trains of happiness
Before they are depleted.

31. In an enduring state, firm-pillared,
With abundant ropes.
